Jason Salus
Jason Salus has spent more than three decades building Democratic power in Montgomery County.
He began organizing in 1991 as a volunteer with the Springfield Township Democrats. As a “CHIP” kid, he was motivated to act after hearing then-Presidential candidate Bill Clinton speak about healthcare reform. Jason looked up his local Democratic committee person, started knocking doors and volunteering at the polls after school, and never stopped.
Building Local Power
Jason served as Chair of the Springfield Township Democratic Committee from 2002 through 2005, where he helped flip both the School Board and Township Commissioners from red to blue.
From 2006 through 2022, he served as Area 10 Democratic Leader, representing Conshohocken, Plymouth, and Whitemarsh. During that time, he recruited candidates and helped build the local infrastructure that strengthened Democratic success across the region.
In 2007, he recruited Leslie Richards to run for Whitemarsh Township Supervisor. In 2011, she joined Josh Shapiro in a historic campaign that flipped the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners from red to blue for the first time since the Civil War.
Seasoned organizer and strategist
Jason helped shape and strengthen Democratic infrastructure across Montgomery County long before becoming Chair of MCDC.
He served as MCDC Treasurer from 2014 through 2015 and as the organization’s first Executive Vice Chair from 2015 through 2022.
During that time, Jason chaired the annual Fall Dinner Committee, transforming it into a consistent six-figure fundraising event and bringing national Democratic leaders to Montgomery County, including:
Gov. Josh Shapiro
Gov. Tom Wolf
Leader Hakeem Jeffries
Congressman Bennie Thompson, Chair, January 6th Commission
Congressman Jamie Raskin
Ashley Biden
Chair of MCDC
Since June 2022, Jason has served as Chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.
Under his leadership, MCDC has grown into one of the strongest Democratic organizations in Pennsylvania, expanding its reach, strengthening its operations, and supporting candidates across Montgomery County.
In 2024, Jason served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
Public service and leadership
Jason has also served in elected office.
In 2007, he was elected to Conshohocken Borough Council, defeating an incumbent who authored a book on the Borough’s history.
In 2011, he became the first Democrat elected Montgomery County Treasurer.
